Greetings Jordy, first and foremost thank you for sitting down with TheHipHopCloud for this Inside The Cloud interview. Since it’s our first interview together let’s take it back to your debut in the music industry and how you got here.
Where did you originate from, and how did you get your name Jordy?
Jordy: I was born in Germany and grew up in Ireland with origin of Congolese decent.
The name Jordy funny enough actually came from a French singer named Jordy Lemoine who was very popular in the early 90’s. My name is Jordan but my older cousins could not pronounce Jordan so they called me Jordy and it’s been my name since.
How long have you been making music & what have been your inspirations coming up?
Jordy: I began music in 2012. I went on to study music technology for the year and once I had finished my course I put the music on hold to go study in college for a couple years and it wasn’t until 2016 I started to do the music. My biggest inspiration coming up was listening to different producers like Pharrel, Timbaland and DJ Mustard at the height of their peak and the style of music they make was unmatchable and I love every moment what they’ve done in music.
How would you describe your style of music?
Jordy: I’m a multi genre artist. My style of music is a mix of everything that I grew up listening to growing up. I listened to a lot of genres including R&B/hip hop and Congolese music.
Whom were your idols coming up?
Jordy: The goat Michael Jackson of course he is my biggest inspiration. There also Omarion who is also my favourite artist. The list goes on the guys like Chris Brown, Usher, Jacob Latimore.
Talk to us about your song “Something Special” featuring Yung Shakur and how that came around?
Jordy: Yeah Something Special is a R&B record that I had recorded in 2018 with my good friend Yung Shakur who is super talented and produced by Dannybytrack. The concept I wanted to do was to make a feel good love making/bedroom song. This one is for the ladies to hear. If you like those type of songs like Summer Walker and Kelhani style of music Something Special is the one.
What can we expect from you in the near future? Are you working on any upcoming projects?
Jordy: Yeah, I just recently signed my first record deal with Believe Music France and I am preparing my first release with the new imprint very soon. I’m preparing my new EP slated for this summer and I have another project I am planning to work with an artist by the name of Mehdi Obams so lookout for those coming.
With all the diversity in the music industry nowadays, who’s your top 5?
Jordy: Oh, that’s a good question. Well the R&B and Hip Hop has changed so much over the years. I like the new hip hop today. If I had to give my top 5 in hip hop in no order. I put Cordae, Travis Scott, Tyler the creator, Lil Baby, Rod Wave and Yung Bleu.
If you had any advice to give to an upcoming artist, what would it be?
Jordy: Stay persistence, be patient. Have that passion, stay humbled and disciplined. That’s is what most important and then you will see the results.
